Public service advertisements are publicity campaigns sponsored by a government or an organization. Their goal is to build awareness on a particular topic or to change people’s behavior. For example in Egypt currently there is a public awareness campaign about train ridership meant to improve the image of trains: keep the trains clean, don’t sleep in the overhead compartment, no cooking fires in the cars, etc. Another example of a public service campaign is the posters showing how to wash your hands correctly so you don’t get sick. Stop smoking, no littering, don’t drink and drive, and don’t talk on cell phones when driving are other examples of public service advertising.
